University have the opportunity to earn credit through the independent study course SCI 499/599, where they can gain hands-on experience in tree-ring science and community engagement. As part of the course, students will not only develop valuable skills in science communication but also have the chance to work closely with museum visitors and contribute to special events. These internships or independent study opportunities provide a unique platform for students to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting while exploring the intersection of science and education.

- Bringing tree-ring samples and artifacts to life at community events, sparking exciting conversations and inspiring curiosity in visitors.
- Leading dynamic, interactive tours through the exhibit hall and Laboratory, sharing the fascinating stories behind tree-ring science.
- Supporting special events both at the Laboratory and off-campus, creating engaging educational experiences for diverse audiences.
